Essential sub-questions for this unit:
How do we show respect for others?
Why is respecting others important?
How do we show respect for property?
Why is respecting property important?
How do we show respect for ourselves?
Why is respecting ourselves important?
How are rules and respect related?
How do we show we are respectful kindergarten citizens?
Class Description
This unit was developed with the intention of being taught in the first few weeks of kindergarten. This lesson is appropriate for all students including those with special needs and ELL students.
A Note about Differentiation
Gardner's Multiple Intelligences have been addressed for each lesson. Additionally, various extensions are offered in various disciplines to promote future learning. As this unit will be introduced in the first weeks of school, readiness levels may or may not have been determined. Because this lesson is rooted in developing a sense of citizenship and respect, this lesson is applicable and appropriate for all readiness levels, adults included!
